SOCIAL GROUP ORGANIZATION:  

Multi-male/Multi-female

 

PARENTAL CARE:  Mother is primary caregiver
  • newborns are carried around in the mother's mouth until the are able to cling to her hair

  • know to practise 'infant parking' behavior, stashing of infants while adults forage for food

 

COMMUNICATION:
  • vocal:  low growls

  • scent marking

 

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:  
  • only discovered in 2003

  • one of the smallest species in the world

 

ENDANGERMENT STATUS:  Data Deficient

Since species was only discovered in 2003, the data necessary for endangerment status classification is still being collected and analyzed.
